SocGen shuts 40 branches in France by 2027.

Société Générale intends to shut roughly 148 points of sale across France by 2027, according to a document shown to unions and corroborated by a source familiar with the plan on Thursday. About 40 of those are full-service branches, which would shrink the network from 1,300 to 1,263 by the end of 2027.

The bank says the closures are meant to align its retail network with evolving customer habits and streamline operations at smaller sites.

Around 80 jobs will go, including 38 branch manager roles, though the source said no one will be forced out.
