Cisco Systems on Tuesday revealed a new set of software tools that companies can use to create their own AI agents, or armies of bots, to defend their IT infrastructure against cybersecurity threats.
Cisco’s disclosure coincides with Anthropic’s upcoming release of its Mythos model, an AI tool that some experts worry might be exploited by hackers to intensify cyberattacks.
The system, which the firm refers to as Cisco Cloud Control, is intended to enable companies and governments to develop and operate AI agents that will monitor their systems, prevent and eliminate hackers, and do other tasks.
IT administrators must react appropriately because swarms of AI agents working on behalf of human hackers are increasingly posing a danger to cybersecurity.
According to DJ Sampath, senior vice president and general manager of AI software and platforms at Cisco, “you can no longer do things at human scale,” he said. “It has to be machine scale, from an operational perspective.”
Cisco anticipates that its clients would wish to leverage AI coding tools in order to swiftly create those AI defense agents.
Additionally, the company launched a marketplace that resembles an app store where businesses may select coding tools.
The first tool available is OpenAI’s Codex, which will be integrated directly into the Cloud Control platform.
Sampath stated that although the precise number has not yet been established, Cisco will receive a portion of the sales made through the platform.
We’re figuring out the economics. Sampath stated, “You should anticipate that we will have some economics that favor us because it costs non-trivial amounts to be able to leverage all of these pieces.”
According to Sampath, the marketplace for third-party solutions will launch in the second half of 2026, and the Cloud Control software will be accessible in North America on Tuesday.
