Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark said on Saturday that rapidly advancing AI capabilities will drive faster transformation across industries.
According to one of the company’s internal models, this could boost US economic production by about 50% by 2030 under certain conditions.
Speaking at the World Bank and IMF annual meetings in Bangkok, Clark stated that there was a limited amount of time for policymakers to take action and that international cooperation was required to establish “unusual and serious rules” for the revolutionary technology.
In contrast to the present level of little over $30 trillion, Clark stated that the predicted future US GDP of $44 trillion “sounds very outlandish, I know.”

However, he continued, AI was significantly boosting scientific advancement.
According to him, the prediction was predicated on “the technology continuing to get better.”
Additionally, economic theory indicates that in order to support such a significant economic expansion, new industries and inventions would have to be developed if GDP were to increase by this amount.
Clark’s comments are made as the business gets ready for its anticipated November IPO, which could raise its valuation to $2 trillion.
For now, humans are in charge.
Clark warned policymakers about the rapid advancement of AI, citing mounting evidence of a “singularity” in which AI growth surpasses human control.

In a speech to hundreds of government and financial officials, he stated, “We should anticipate that in the upcoming years, the entire pace of progress of not just AI but science as a whole will speed up, and this will feel confusing and disorienting and will bring with it great wealth and potentially great peril.”
At the IMF and World Bank meetings, artificial intelligence (AI) was discussed extensively as a potential threat to stability if it doesn’t live up to its promise as a productivity game-changer and stock value crash, as well as a source of growth to offset high energy prices.
However, Clark, a former journalist and Anthropic’s “head of public benefit,” painted a picture of a bright future in which AI would be a force multiplier for scientific discovery, solving biological, mathematical, and engineering problems, including the discovery of new drugs, as hundreds or thousands of AI assistants would support human researchers.
Nations can join the AI movement by developing the data center infrastructure needed to power these advanced systems.
Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark warns that global leaders must urgently regulate AI to prevent its misuse in creating biological and cyber weapons.

He specifically calls for the strictest human oversight and total transparency in AI-driven biological research, where the technology has already been used to engineer new viruses.
Anthropic’s Jack Clark emphasizes that while AI remains under human control despite recent containment breaches and hacking incidents, the timeline to establish critical safeguards has shrunk to just a few years.
He notes that AI is actively displacing jobs in high-exposure fields like customer service, but it is boosting employment in scientific research and holds an unquantified potential to spark entirely new industries.
