Nvidia’s CEO says Taiwan is the “epicenter” of the AI revolution and plans to build a $5 trillion headquarters.

The chief executive of Nvidia announced on Wednesday that the chip giant intends to invest over $150 billion annually in Taiwan, calling it the “epicenter” of the AI revolution and projecting that it will remain the global center for tech production for a very long time.

Nvidia was investing roughly $10–15 billion annually in Taiwan four or five years ago.

At a launch event for the $5 trillion chipmaker’s proposed Taiwan headquarters in Taipei, CEO Jensen Huang stated, “Now we’re spending 100, going to 150 billion dollars in Taiwan each year.”

The project is scheduled to begin construction this year and is expected to be operational by 2030. He did not specify how many years the corporation intended to invest $150 billion.

The Taiwan headquarters will bring Nvidia closer to TSMC, the world’s largest contract chipmaker, a significant supplier to the U.S. tech giant, and a producer of many of the cutting-edge semiconductors driving the AI trend.

Additionally, it will assist the most valuable company in the world in strengthening its partnerships with other manufacturing partners, such as Foxconn, Wistron, and Quanta Computer, all of which are crucial to the development of AI servers and infrastructure.

Huang declared, “Taiwan is booming,” in front of his family, about a thousand workers, and Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an.

He stated that Nvidia intended to hire 4,000 workers at the new location. The AI revolution is centered in Taiwan. This is where the chips, packaging, systems, and AI supercomputers are built. It’s amazing how many partners we have here in Taiwan.

Huang’s parents, wife, daughter, and son were present at the launch on Wednesday. Huang was born in Tainan, the ancient capital of southern Taiwan.

He moved to the United States when he was nine years old, and in Taiwan, where his every move is constantly monitored, he is somewhat of a rock celebrity.

Huang was a member of the delegation that traveled to Beijing earlier this month with US President Donald Trump to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Taiwan is anchored by TSMC and plays a crucial role in the global AI supply chain for businesses like Nvidia and Apple.

Highlighting Taiwan’s importance, Advanced Micro Devices announced last week that it would invest over $10 billion in Taiwan’s AI industry to strengthen strategic alliances and increase its capacity to develop and construct cutting-edge AI chips.

Huang stated on Wednesday that Nvidia will be worth even more in three to five years. Nvidia made history late last year when it became the first business to hit $5 trillion in market value, solidifying its position at the center of the global AI revolution.

Nvidia sought to reassure investors this week that it can maintain its phenomenal growth with the support of a wide range of clients and that new technologies will enable it to surpass the $1 trillion in sales it has projected for its flagship AI chips.
