AI Boom: Amazon’s cloud is booked solid until 2028, CEO Jassy says.

On Friday, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy revealed that AWS has already committed most of its cloud computing capacity through 2027, with substantial bookings reaching into 2028 as demand for AI infrastructure surges.

Speaking on a video podcast hosted by Andreessen Horowitz’s Ben Horowitz and Erik Torenberg, Jassy said the company is having trouble matching the relentless appetite of AI labs and businesses.

Amazon previously announced plans to spend roughly $220 billion on capital expenditure in 2026.

Jassy suggested the company could put considerably more money into work, and it would still be a smart investment, given that AWS capacity for 2026 is already fully taken.

He explained that 2027 is mostly booked too. Amazon keeps some capacity in reserve for on-demand customers and for Bedrock, its AI inference service, as well as EC2, but it has nearly committed all the large blocks, and a substantial share of 2028 is already claimed.

For context, EC2 provides cloud servers for running applications, while Bedrock lets customers tap into AI models to build generative AI apps.

Amazon is due to report its third-quarter earnings on October 29.
