A new generative AI feature that compiles user product reviews is now available on Amazon.
Before spending time reading through individual reviews, shoppers can quickly see what other customers have to say about a product thanks to the tool, which the firm started experimenting with earlier this year. It will identify recurring themes and provide a succinct summary of each on the product detail page. A subset of mobile consumers in the U.S. can now access the AI-generated reviews across a “broad” range of products, the company claimed in a blog post posted on Monday. According to Vaughn Schermerhorn, Amazon’s director of community buying, it might also be extended to more users and more product categories in the “coming months” based on user input. As the battle for generative AI among tech companies heats up, the Seattle-based company has been exploring ways to incorporate more artificial intelligence into its product offerings. Amazon hasn’t yet made available a well-known AI chatbot or imaging tool. Instead, it has been concentrating on providing services that would enable programmers to create custom generative AI tools on its AWS cloud platform. In a letter to shareholders earlier this year, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy predicted that generative AI will be a “big deal” for the business. Additionally, he stated that “every single one” of Amazon’s businesses, including its devices division, which develops products like the voice assistant Alexa, is actively engaged in various generative AI programs during an earnings call with investors last week. The business announced on Monday that in addition to the AI-generated review, it will also provide customers with a product insights function that will let them identify recurring themes in evaluations.
