JPMorgan Chase invests $5 billion in industries critical to US economic and national security.

As banks look to take advantage of the increasing need for domestic manufacturing, energy infrastructure, and supply-chain resilience, JPMorgan Chase announced that it has invested $5 billion in equity in industries vital to the US economy and national security.

The lender also stated that since initiating the Security and Resiliency Initiative a year ago, when it pledged to finance $1.5 trillion in US investments over the next ten years, including in national security, it had financed around $230 billion.

Since President Donald Trump’s administration has prioritized expanding US infrastructure to lessen reliance on foreign supply chains in a number of sectors, including clean energy and rare earths, large US banks have already been investing in the growing demand for AI data centers, critical minerals, and energy infrastructure upgrades.

JPMorgan stated that its own investments have helped businesses in fields like supply chains, advanced manufacturing, energy, and defense-related technologies.

According to the bank, its equity investments are in venture, growth, and later-stage businesses, including new investments in frontier technologies, automated manufacturing, distributed battery storage, and next-generation defense technology.

Jay Horine, head of JPMorganChase Global Banking’s security and resiliency initiative, said, “In the next leg we are going to be focusing on expanding industrial capacity, strengthening supply chains, and supporting the industries that will shape long-term economic resilience and national security.”

Similar projects are being worked on by other institutions as well.

In August, Bank of America announced intentions to contribute $250 billion by July 2027 to assist infrastructure and technology projects in the United States.

In addition, Morgan Stanley stated that it will enable investments in infrastructure and technology initiatives totaling about $1.5 trillion over the next ten years.
