Toyota will cease operations at five plants in January owing to supply chain problems.

Due to supply chain concerns, chip shortages, and the COVID-19 pandemic, Toyota Motor Corp said on Monday that production at five domestic facilities will be halted in January.

The factory shutdown will affect around 20,000 automobiles, but will not hinder the company’s yearly aim of producing nine million vehicles, according to Japan’s biggest carmaker.

Toyota announced this week that due to supply chain challenges, it expects to reduce car manufacturing in North America to 50,000 units in January.
