Total, French energy conglomerate to build forest in Republic of Congo

French energy group, Total said it had gotten together with the organization Forest Ressources to plant a 40,000-hectare timberland in the Republic of the Congo, as organizations around the globe venture up strategies to help the climate.

Total said on Tuesday that this forest would create a carbon sink that will sequester in excess of 10 million tons of CO2 emissions over 20 years.
