German environmental groups have filed objections against the temporary permit from the Brandenburg environmental authority for the development of a Tesla gigafactory close to Berlin, the groups’ legal counselor said on Friday.
The protest is based on the case that Tesla has not adequately explained what safeguards it will take to prevent toxic gas escaping from the factory, the report said.
It said Tesla had likewise changed its application documents to produce battery cells on the premises, for which it has not yet gotten the essential license.
The groups, Gruene Liga and NABU, said they will go to court if the state authorities neglect the petition and fail to grant suspension by June 16.
