The majority-owned Swiss corporation claimed in a statement that it is in “advanced exclusive negotiations” to acquire Vodafone Italia in its entirety and combine it with Swisscom’s Italian affiliate, Fastweb.

If the deal goes through, Swisscom claims it will increase the value and cash flow of the Swiss business and strengthen its dividend policy.

According to the Swiss telecom operator, the agreement would meet the objectives of the Federal Council, and the executive body of the country, and result in lower costs and more opportunities for synergies.
