The head of the region said on Telegram that Russian artillery targeted a military base in Okhtyrka, a city between Kharkiv and Kyiv, killing more than 70 Ukrainian servicemen.
Dmytro Zhyvytskyy shared photos of a four-story building burnt and rescuers combing the ruins. Many Russian soldiers and some local citizens were also killed during the combat on Sunday, he stated in a later Facebook post. The report could not be verified right away.
