Authorities reported that a car struck a gathering at a tavern in Pennsylvania on Saturday for a fundraiser for those affected by a house fire that claimed 10 lives earlier in the month, resulting in one fatality and 17 other injuries.
According to WNEP-TV, the collision took place in front of the Intoxicology Department bar in Berwick at around 6:15 p.m. It stated that numerous injured people were being treated on the spot by police and emergency medical services.
A male suspect is being held by the Pennsylvania State Police while they prepare to file charges, according to their statement.
According to the station, the tavern was hosting a fundraiser for individuals affected by a fire that claimed the lives of seven adults and three children in nearby Nescopeck on August 5.
It wasn’t immediately apparent what exactly happened on Saturday night, including whether the Nescopeck fire or the fundraising campaign had anything to do with it.
The first funerals for the fire victims took place on Friday, and additional funerals were planned for Sunday and Monday. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, according to the authorities.
