Nvidia, Amazon, and Microsoft are to issue term sheets for a $60 billion investment in OpenAI.

Nvidia, Amazon, and Microsoft are to issue term sheets for a $60 billion investment in OpenAI.

The Information revealed on Wednesday that Microsoft, Nvidia, and Amazon are in talks to invest up to $60 billion in OpenAI.

Nvidia, an existing investor whose chips fuel OpenAI’s AI models, is in talks to spend up to $30 billion.

Microsoft, a longtime supporter, is in talks to invest less than $10 billion. Amazon, a potential new investor, is reportedly in talks to invest far more than $10 billion, possibly even more than $20 billion.

OpenAI is almost ready to get term sheets or an investment commitment from these companies.

A commercial agreement for OpenAI to sell its goods, such as enterprise ChatGPT subscriptions, to Amazon, as well as a potential expansion of OpenAI’s cloud server leasing relationship with Amazon, could be the basis for Amazon’s investment, according to The Information.

This comes after news earlier this week that SoftBank Group is in talks to invest up to $30 billion more in OpenAI.

As competition from Alphabet’s Google intensifies, OpenAI is struggling with growing expenses for training and operating its AI models.
