Nigeria: Local and International flights were disrupted by the strike.

The ground personnel started an indefinite strike on Monday in order to seek increased wages, according to airlines in Nigeria.

The largest airline in Nigeria, Air Peace, and a smaller airline, Dana Air, claimed the strike by the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) was delaying flights and expressed confidence that the problem would be handled swiftly.

According to a statement from Air Peace, “the strike has affected the operations of all airlines being controlled by the firm (NAHCO)”.

Requests for comment from British Airways and Qatar Airways, two foreign carriers that routinely fly to Nigeria, were not immediately fulfilled.

In order to pressure NAHCO for higher pay, the National Union of Transport Employees and Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria announced last week that its members will begin a strike on Monday.
