Microsoft plans to invest $15 billion in the UAE to make it a global AI hub.

Microsoft announced on Monday that it has obtained export permits from the Trump administration to deliver cutting-edge processors to the Gulf nation and aims to invest more than $15 billion in the United Arab Emirates over the next seven years, ending in 2029.

“The development of AI data centers throughout the United Arab Emirates accounts for the largest portion of the investment, both in the past and in the future”.

In an interview on Monday, Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith stated, “And from our perspective, it’s an investment that is critical to meet the demand here for the use of AI.”

According to Smith, it obtained export permits from the U.S. government for that project last year and has received new licenses for this year.

Smith gave the speech on the fringes of the ADIPEC energy conference in Abu Dhabi.

To secure access to American technology, including some of the world’s most cutting-edge semiconductors, the UAE has invested billions of dollars to establish itself as a global center for artificial intelligence.
