McDonald’s in South Korea, Taiwan hit by Cyberattack.

McDonald’s Corp the world’s biggest burger chain, said on Friday that a data breach in South Korea and Taiwan has exposed some customer and employee data, making it the latest global company to be attacked by cybercriminals.

The attackers breached e-mails, telephone numbers and delivery addresses, yet the breach did exclude customer payment data, the company said.

The details of the attack in the two regions were the consequence of an investigation by external analysts following an unapproved action on the company’s network.

“While we had the option to stop access immediately after ascertaining proof, our investigation has established that few documents were gotten to, some of which contained individual information,” McDonald’s said in a statement.

The burger chain said it will find ways to advise regulators and customers recorded in the documents.

Recent breaches by cybercriminals on hospitals and global organizations including meat processor JBS and Colonial Pipeline oil have upset activities for quite a long time, leading to supply deficiencies.

A couple of organizations had to pay ransom to deal with their tasks and restart production. McDonald’s said its everyday activities were not affected and that a payoff was not included.

The company said it would utilize the discoveries from the investigation to identify ways to improve its safety efforts.
