Five people were killed and at least six others were injured in a shooting at a bank facility in downtown Louisville on Monday morning, according to police. Police reported that the alleged shooter was also deceased.
Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey of the Louisville Metro Police Department informed reporters that when officers got on the site, “active gunfire was still being fired inside the place at that time.”
According to Humphrey, “the shooter was verified to be deceased on the scene.” “At this moment, we are unsure of the specifics of his demise.”
Gunfire was heard inside the building, witnesses who had fled the scene said WHAS-TV in Louisville.
Television footage revealed a large number of police vehicles. Reporters from WHAS claimed to have seen ambulances transporting patients away from the scene.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced his arrival at the scene in a tweet.
Please say a prayer for all the affected families and for Louisville, the city, said Beshear.
According to the FBI, its employees were also reacting to the shooting.
Between Louisville Slugger Field and Waterfront Park, on East Main Street, the Old National Bank is housed in the structure where the shooting took place.
