Gunfire broke out at a Los Angeles park where a car show was being held on Sunday, leaving two people dead and at least five more hurt.
According to the LAPD, the incident took place in the San Pedro district of LA at Peck Park around 3:50 p.m. The LAPD tweeted that there was no active shooter incident but gave no other details.
At a press conference, LAPD Capt. Kelly Muniz stated that the casualties were discovered at the baseball diamond. The victims have not been named by the police.
“Multiple shooting victims were reported near Peck Park’s baseball diamond in the initial call. This is a continual, live crime scene, and as we speak, we are removing evidence and possibly more victims from the park, according to Muniz. “At this moment, we don’t quite know how many shooters we have.”
According to the LA Fire Department, the incident took place at or close to the car show, and at least three persons were shot, with two of them in severe condition. According to the fire department, seven people—four men and three women—were hurt and sent to hospitals.
No motive has been given by the police. There have been no detentions.
Peck Park is located around 20 miles (32.19 km) south of the heart of Los Angeles.
