IBM is close to reaching an agreement to buy software developer Apptio for roughly $5 billion.
The deal between the corporations might be finalized over the weekend and it was not apparent whether debt was included in the acquisition price.
IBM declined to respond to the report. The request for comment from Apptio was not immediately met with a response.
Apptio, which was acquired by Vista Equity Partners in 2018 for $1.94 billion, sells solutions including cloud-based and hybrid company management software, which could be useful to technology behemoth IBM.
The agreement comes after IBM’s 2019 $34 billion acquisition of software business Red Hat and its over $1.5 billion acquisition of software supplier Turbonomic in 2021.
