Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, stated on Saturday that oil and gas should not be vilified in the medium run, but he also stressed the need to cut carbon emissions to protect the environment.
“Climate change alarm is exaggerated in the short term,” claimed Elon Musk, a right-wing political figurehead hosted by the Brothers of Italy party of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. He also added that the environmental movement might have gone too far and caused people to lose hope in the future.
Representatives from around 200 nations decided to start cutting back on fossil fuel use worldwide to prevent the worst effects of climate change, which would eventually mean the end of the oil age, during this month’s COP28 climate meeting.
Musk stated that he views himself as an environmentalist and believes it is critical that businesses eventually cut back on the billions of tons of carbon that they absorb from the planet and emit into the atmosphere through the combustion of fossil fuels.
“We should not demonize oil and gas in the medium term,” he stated.
When asked if his businesses would make investments in Italy, Musk expressed concern over the nation’s falling birth rate.
“While I believe Italy is a fantastic area to invest in, I must stress that I am concerned about the country’s low birth rate. Who will work in the nation if the labor force shrinks?” He stated.
He said that a nation could not rely just on immigration flows to fill the gap, and he called on the Italian government to provide incentives for families to have more children.
The budget for Italy for the following year has set aside almost 1 billion euros ($1.09 billion) to address the demographic crisis in the nation. Italy’s birth rate dropped for the fourteenth consecutive year, reaching a record low since the nation’s unification in 1861.
