Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the president of Algeria, was quoted on Thursday by Ennahar Online as saying that China would spend $36 billion in Algeria across a variety of industries, including manufacturing, new technology, the knowledge economy, transportation, and agriculture.
During a meeting with representatives of the Algerian diaspora in China, Tebboune said, “The projects and agreements concluded with the Chinese side are enormous and mutually beneficial to both countries.”
Since the beginning of the week, President Tebboune has been in China on an official visit. On Tuesday, he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.
The Algerian President stated on Thursday that his visit had opened “all horizons of investment” between the two nations and that Algeria aimed to elevate its economic ties with Beijing to that of “good historical political relations.”
