Andrew Hill, a British man captured with a weapon by Russian forces in the Ukraine war.

On Friday, Russia’s defense ministry published a video showing an injured British man being questioned by unidentified Russian authorities in Ukraine.

The man was shown with a bandaged left arm, a makeshift bandage around his head, and blood on his right arm. His name was Andrew Hill, and he spoke with a British accent.

“I don’t have a position… I just know that the foreign legion stated I may assist them “When asked about his rank, the man said.

He surrendered to Russian troops in the Mykolaiv region of southwestern Ukraine, according to the Russian defense ministry. He claimed to be carrying a firearm.

A request for a response from the British Foreign Office was not immediately returned.

The abducted man told his Russian interrogators that he was from Plymouth, England and that he and his spouse had four children. He claimed he had traveled on his own initiative to assist Ukraine. According to him, Russian soldiers took his passport.

When the man inquired about his safety, one of the Russians replied, “Yes, you are totally safe.”

The Russians stated that he will be treated for his injuries, which seemed to include a bullet wound.

Russia describes its invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24, as a “special operation” aimed at disarming Ukraine and protecting it from fascists. The allegations of fascism are unfounded, according to Ukraine and the West, and the war is an unprovoked act of aggression.
