Russia warned the United States on Tuesday that World War Three will not be limited to Europe and claimed the West was playing with fire by thinking about enabling Ukraine to launch Western weapons far into Russia.
Laptops 1000In what is believed to be the largest foreign attack on Russia since World War Two, Ukraine struck the western Kursk region of Russia on August 6 and took some land. President Vladimir Putin promised that Russia would honorably respond to the attack.
As Putin’s foreign minister for more than 20 years, Sergei Lavrov claimed that by considering Ukrainian demands to relax restrictions on using weapons provided by other countries, the West was “asking for trouble” and attempting to intensify the conflict in Ukraine.
Putin has stated that Russia does not wish to engage in combat with the NATO alliance, the United States commands. Still, he has frequently warned of the possibility of a far larger battle including the world’s major nuclear powers since invading Ukraine in 2022.
“We are now confirming once again that playing with fire – and they are like small children playing with matches – is a very dangerous thing for grown-up uncles and aunts who are entrusted with nuclear weapons in one or another Western country,” Lavrov said to reporters in Moscow.
“Americans unequivocally associate conversations about the Third World War as something that, God forbid, if it happens, will affect Europe exclusively,” Lavrov stated.
Russia was “clarifying” its nuclear doctrine, Lavrov continued.
The president of Russia would contemplate using a nuclear weapon, according to its 2020 nuclear doctrine, “when the very existence of the state is put under threat” or in reaction to an attack utilizing conventional or nuclear weapons of mass devastation.
THE RUSSIAN REACTION
The attack on Russia’s Kursk area, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy earlier this month, demonstrated that the Kremlin’s threats of retribution were a farce.
