Following the killing of three people and the injury of a fourth at a home in northeast Philadelphia, authorities charged two teenagers with firearms and related offenses.
According to Lt. John Stanford, police were summoned to the Lawncrest area home shortly after 3:30 p.m. On Friday, there were three victims—one on the porch, one on the sidewalk, and one inside the house. At the scene, all three were declared dead.
Police reported that a second 16-year-old boy victim arrived at Jefferson Frankford Hospital in a vehicle. According to Stanford, a gun was found in the vehicle and at least two persons were arrested.
Malik Ballard, 17, was the young person found dead on the sidewalk, Khalif Frezghi, 18, was found dead on the front porch, and 14-year-old Salah Fleming was discovered right inside the doorway of the house, according to the police on Saturday.
According to authorities, two minors, 15 and 16, were charged with offenses involving guns and related charges. The investigation is still ongoing.
According to WPVI-TV, representatives from the Philadelphia School District verified that at least two of the murdered victims were pupils there, one in the eighth grade and the other in the eleventh.
More than 20 rounds were fired during a gunfight outside the Lawncrest Recreation Center two weeks ago, with one bullet striking a daycare center’s window, according to WPVI-TV.
We can’t lose hope because if we do, everyone in this community will also lose hope, Stanford stated in response to criticism of the city’s continued violence.
