Texas 250 Teenagers’ prom after-party shootout leaves 9 kids injured

Nine adolescents were wounded by gunfire at a large prom after-party at a residence in Texas; a second shooting in a nearby city is being looked at for a possible connection, according to officials.

Early on Sunday morning, Jasper County sheriff’s deputies in East Texas arrived at a house where about 250 people were having a party. According to a statement from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, they discovered nine individuals with gunshot wounds that didn’t seem to be life-threatening.

According to Karli Cherry, a spokeswoman for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, eight persons were transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital in private automobiles, and at least one of them was later moved to a Beaumont, Texas, hospital. She claimed that one individual skipped the hospital.

Following the initial gunshot, there was a second shooting within the city of Jasper, according to the statement. The second incident resulted in no injuries, but a connection is being looked into because of a “common vehicle at both locations,” according to the statement.

The inquiry is ongoing, and “people of interest are being questioned,” according to the statement.
