On Saturday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed the West has declared a “complete hybrid war” against Russia, adding that it was difficult to tell how long it would persist.
In a speech marking the 80th day since Russia invaded Ukraine, Lavrov referred to the Western sanctions against Moscow, attempting to depict Russia as the victim of aggression rather than the perpetrator.
“The collective West has launched a total hybrid war on us,” he said in a speech. “While it is difficult to forecast how long all of this will endure, it is obvious that the consequences will be felt by everyone, without exception.”
“We tried everything we could to avoid a direct confrontation, but now that the challenge has been issued, we must take it; sanctions are nothing new to us; they were almost always present in some form or another.”
The West’s efforts to isolate Russia would fail, according to Lavrov, who also stressed the importance of Russia’s connections with China, India, Algeria, and Gulf countries.
