According to the Interfax news agency, Russian forces destroyed ammo storage at the Myrhorod Air Base in central-eastern Ukraine, citing Russia’s Defense Ministry.
According to ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov, the attack on the facility in the Poltava region also destroyed a Ukrainian air force MiG-29 fighter and a Mi-8 helicopter.
He went on to say that big ammo storage at Novomoskovsk, in the central-eastern Dnipro region, was also destroyed.
On February 24, Russia sent tens of thousands of soldiers into Ukraine for a “special military operation” to demilitarize and “denazify” the country.
Ukraine warned citizens in the eastern Luhansk region to flee Russian shelling after officials said more than 50 civilians were killed in a missile attack while attempting to flee by rail from a neighboring province.
Russia has refuted claims of war crimes and the targeting of civilians in Ukraine on several occasions.
Dmytro Lunin, the governor of the Poltava area, reported on social media that the Russian strike in Myrhorod had injured two persons and caused “major damage.” He didn’t go into any further detail.
On April 2, Lunin stated that a Russian airstrike near the airbase had destroyed an airfield runway and fuel depot.
Russia has targeted 85 military targets in Ukraine, according to Konashenkov, including two command posts, three rocket launchers, four self-propelled artillery systems, an ammo store, and two logistical depots, among others.
According to Interfax, Russian forces have destroyed 650 aircraft in Ukraine since February 24, including planes and helicopters, as well as over 2,000 tanks and armored vehicles.

According to Ukrainian Defense Ministry estimates, 19,100 Russian troops have been killed since the invasion began. Russia has lost 705 tanks, 1,895 armored personnel carriers, 151 planes, and 136 helicopters, according to the report.
Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesperson, claimed on Thursday that Russia had suffered “major losses” in Ukraine.
According to Russia’s defense ministry, 1,351 Russian servicemen have been killed and 3,825 have been wounded since the campaign began on March 25.
