Police seized high-quality forged banknotes delivered at a printing office at a university in Bulgaria’s capital, authorities said Tuesday.
In a joint activity with the U.S. Secret service, Bulgarian police kept two individuals and held onto a printing machine and gear for printing cash, alongside a lot of fake U.S. dollars and euro notes.
“The value of the seized currency is amazing. The material proof talks about genuine crime,” Sofia police boss Georgi Hadzhiev said Tuesday.
The measure of fake cash seized is $4 million and 3.6 million euros, as per the prosecutor’s office.
Police accept that the two suspects are part for a bigger criminal undertaking, dealing in the trafficking of fake dollars to Ukraine, and of euros to Western Europe.
