Microsoft plans to fire up to 9,000 workers amid economic uncertainties.

The Seattle Times said on Wednesday that Microsoft is laying off up to 4%, or around 9,100, of its workers in the biggest layoffs since 2023.

A request for comment was not immediately answered by the corporation, which as of June 2024 employed over 228,000 people worldwide.

In June, Bloomberg News reported that the internet behemoth was laying off thousands of workers, mostly in sales.

In May, Microsoft also announced layoffs that will impact approximately 6,000 workers.

Following similar layoffs last year, corporate America has begun a wave of job cuts across industries as businesses try to streamline operations amid economic uncertainty.
