17 people dead in a sewage gas explosion in southern Pakistan.

The death toll from a sewer gas explosion in Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, has risen to 17, police said, adding that some critically injured people died overnight and Sunday.

Initially, 12 people were killed and 11 others were injured in a gas explosion in a sewage system in Pakistan’s commercial capital on Saturday.

The loss of lives and property, according to senior police official Sarfaraz Nawaz Shaikh, could be attributed to human building faults over the sewer. According to him, the number of people injured has risen to 16.

The HBL bank building, which was built over the sewer, was completely destroyed by the bomb. According to Mukhtar Abro, a local administrator, the building was one of several that had been ordered to vacate after breaking building codes. The structures would be demolished in the coming weeks.

Many sewage channels in the city have been illegally covered by erecting concrete structures on top of them.

In the country’s northwest, a roadside bomb killed two people and injured three more in a passing vehicle on Sunday. The vehicle was damaged in the blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to police officer Abdus Samad. A search operation has begun to find the perpetrators of the bombing. No one has claimed responsibility for the explosion near the Afghan border.

Two individuals were murdered and six others were injured when gunmen opened fire in the Karak area of the same province on Sunday. The violence occurred at a voting station during a local government election, according to police spokesman Akbar Khan. Other minor skirmishes were recorded in connection with the election, but no one was hurt.
